Medusa. My little trickster. She’s too smart for her own good and has figured out how to open the parlor door latch. Now I use a carabiner after letting each cow out or she comes in for a snacky snack. Good thing she’s cute.

Medusa, my easiest calver. This little cow is worth so much to me and this farm. Calved alone with ease and I got up to milk and found a cleaned off tiny heifer. Love it and no sleepless nights on calf checks. Just “here you go”. She will never leave this farm.

So thankful for my vet and his team today. Brought everyone out for milking and my shorthorn heifer acted hot and spun up. Check temp and she’s 104.3. Had bloody stools. Call them and said please head this way asap. Seems to be an ulcer and all is well now. Talk about a scare!

This is the type of house where you take your phone everywhere, not because you’re worried about your husband snooping thru your phone, but because you have a bunch of assholes that take 100 pics of randomness with your phone.

If you can, give the next generation ownership of something on your operation. We did a partnership for the new calf with an amazing young lady. For 19 years old, she is wise, and motivated well beyond her years. Now something is half in her name should she decide to leave.

Challenging couple weeks coming up. First time we’ve calved out a heifer and she’s my baby. Three weeks later my fav cow calves out and maybe I can get a heifer. Four prior bulls. Lots of excitement and stress!

I’m completely convinced turkeys are modern day dinosaurs. Thank goodness it was the pumpkin and not me on the ground. Like a scene out of Jurassic Park!

Three and a half more weeks until Jamie calves out. This calf is Medusa’s calf Tinkerbell, who is most displeased with halter work. Jamie is a whiskey barrel on legs. No ideal heading into calving. 👎👎👎

Baby Ahi has finally arrived!! Of course it would be at 11:30 at night in the cold but she’s here! Two years ago, I helped ease Ahi into this world and today, I helped ease her daughter in. I’m still nervous and cautious but my heart is bursting today!

Trying to actually get my butt in gear and get little gifts for our milk customers this year. Little bag of cookies will go in their cloth shopping bags. Longest part of these is cutting them out. Hope it’s a hit!

Medusa’s calf, Tinkerbell, she’s about 8-9 weeks old and Ahi’s calf, Ariel who isn’t even two weeks old yet. 😂

Last calf of the year is finally here. Lots of scares and I won’t relax until she’s a lot more bouncy but after 3 bull calves, Jamie finally gave me a heifer!!!

Why does my week keep going sideways? Cows. Jamie got milk fever. First time I’ve dealt with it and I was a bit rattled. Got drench in her and a bolus and transported to the vet school for treatment. Said her calcium was so low she shouldn’t be standing. Cows give me gray hairs.

Merry Christmas from my herd to yours! My pretty girls cranking out the milk this morning and making my life easy!

Cream separator working overtime this morning. 15-16 gallons skimmed for butter and other uses later. Not many customers later in the week. And apparently my chicken identifies as a cat and helped herself to the milk for the cats.
