Currently pondering who it was that determined what content is considered crucial to a curriculum versus what content is considered “elective” because I’m noticing some trends that I’d like to talk about🧐

So every Thursday, I end my classes with “enjoy your weekend, make good choices!” I’ve said that every Thursday so far and yesterday (Tuesday) I ended class and one of them said “why didn’t you tell us to make good choices🥺” and everybody yelled “ITS TUESDAY”

Today I was gifted this beautiful card and candle from one of my students and it reminded me that despite how difficult things are right now, having the opportunity to teach and learn from my students is invaluable (also peep the stress free- how did they know!!)

I made my students little goodie bags to thank them for their continuous hard work this semester despite the challenges of being back in person and the immense burnout that comes with that. Of course, I waited until the night before (🤦🏽‍♀️) but I’m proud of how they turned out!

Today I spent 5 hours in front of my computer conducting hearings before going to campus to administer a makeup exam- at least this sunset was waiting me at the end of a busy day!

I have 3.5 hours of atonal hearings to conduct today so I stopped at Starbucks this morning for a treat. The barista told me I look lovely in yellow and then spelled my name correctly (without asking!). What a way to start the day🌼☕️

Today I told my students that I’m leaving at the end of the semester and they were so supportive and excited for me. I’m so grateful for the teaching opportunities I had at UNT and I’m going to miss them all so much🥺
