A lot of teachers stuck in toxic schools. We need: 1. Publication of retention data spanning 5 years 2. Anonymised exit interviews available to job applicants 3. Forget OFSTED - secret supply teachers 4. More open conversations about toxic schools What is a toxic school?

It’s a fact, all behaviour is communication. That means poor behaviour is a special educational need. So the more developed the SEN resources and provision a school is able to offer, the lower that school’s absenteeism and exclusions will be.

Why are so many ‘looked-after’ children in unregistered, unsafe & expensive children’s homes? One reason is Ofsted! You can’t operate a registered home without a Registered Manager (RI). But there aren’t enough RIs because of the unfair demands of the inspection process on them!

As a society we have a responsibility to do more than ‘keep’ children in education by threatening them with sanctions. Instead our task is to develop a more inclusive, therapeutic approach which engages their imagination and so creates in them an insatiable appetite for learning.
