Middlewich Breach: Video today of granular fill material being compacted in layers to reinstate the breach hole. Photo to follow. The embankment slope is quite steep so is being reinforced with geogrid mesh. Canal & River Trust North West

Marple Lock 11: starting to rebuild the lock chamber walls. Lower part is natural orange brick, and now on to rebuilding the stonework. We have some new sandstone blocks to replace perished stones. Canal & River Trust North West
Marple Lock 11: latest photos taken today. Rebuild of the lock walls is about half way up. We have replaced a few stones, light coloured, with new ones as the original stones are fractured. New sandstone is from a local quarry in Kerridge. Canal & River Trust North West
