On Workers’ Memorial Day today we remember all who have lost their lives at work but importantly we commit ourselves to securing a safe working environment for all workers. I want to highlight the ongoing impact of long Covid & high incidence amongst health workers & teachers.

Not long ago under Keir Starmer we opposed the Conservatives plans for the mass surveillance of people’s bank accounts if they were claiming benefits. Today Labour voted for exactly that. I didn’t because it’s another stigmatising attack on the poorest.

This statement by rank and file Unison members about the treatment of the union’s president makes extremely serious allegations. There needs to be an urgent independent investigation into this matter.

Israel continues to block aid to Gaza & people are starving. It’s time now to override Israel’s blockade & for the UK to deliver by air & sea the food & medicines the Palestinians desperately need. Children are dying & we can’t stand by whilst Israel commits these war crimes.

Happy May Day. As we march today in our traditional marches celebrating May Day, workers’ day, let’s discuss & plan how we support the mobilisation against the threatened cuts to benefits to disabled people. DPAC

Tin eared response from Labour spokespeople to election results so far. Labour supporters feel Labour, their party, has turned its back on them citing Winter Fuel Allowance, NI tax on jobs & threat of disability cuts. Message to ministers is drop the plans to attack disabled.

On WATO I gave my views on the Labour leadership’s response to the elections & what is now needed. My comments are at 37 minutes in programme. See what you think. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

If Labour decision makers think “reviewing” Winter Fuel Allowance will save them, they’re not living in same world as rest of us. Only scrapping of WFA cut & dropping completely plans to cut benefits to disabled will show that as PM claimed, “he gets it.” theguardian.com/society/2025/m…

David Lammy needs to come to Parliament to respond to this report & explain how his & other ministers’ statements to Parliament assuring MPs that arms sales to Israel had ended when this evidence demonstrates a huge scale of arms being supplied. theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/m…
