As 2021 draws to a close, we’re continuing our #motionflashback tradition and releasing a short snippet from each project we worked on this year. Make your own #motionflashback and post it with the hashtag so we can enjoy + share your work too!

Last year we had the privilege of helping our friends at Webflow with the opener video for @NoCodeConf 2021! Building on the visual language of the first No-Code video, we pushed ourselves to create something that would show off all their incredible new features in a fresh way.

A new beginning for TED Talks: Our friends at Colours and Shapes invited us to partner up on creating a new intro animation for TED, to brand the start of every video on their website. See process and credits on Behance: behance.net/gallery/123611…

One of the big technical challenges on our latest piece was animating what we called the “blessing swirls”, a collection of brightly coloured paint strokes intended to convey God’s blessing. We’re really excited at how this turned out!

Exploration is a huge part of our process, but not all explorations make the cut. We’ll be posting frames that are just too good to stay hidden in a folder. Welcome to #NoOrdinaryFrames, starting with this character exploration by Avi.

Last year we had the privilege of working on a six-part series (over 30 minutes of animation!) with our friends at BibleProject. We've put together a cutdown and a bunch of process behind-the-scenes here, you can check it out here: behance.net/gallery/147057…

This week in #NoOrdinaryFrames: an early test by our pal Josh Edwards, from the visual exploration stage of our latest project with Webflow. See the final piece & other process goodies here: behance.net/gallery/136361…

Over the last few years we've had a couple opportunities to create a series of animation & illustration assets for our friends at Genesis. Here's a few of our collected favourites, but you can check out more on Behance! behance.net/gallery/146951…

WTF is Nouns? That’s the question we sought to answer in this crazy video – packing in more artistic styles than we’ve ever put into a project before, and a sprinkling of humour along the way.

✨Free Project Files ✨ To ring in the new year, I’ve decided to regularly share project files and more for free going forward in an effort to give back to our lovely motion design community. Download Cavalry + Adobe After Effects project files of mine here: philipvonborries.com/resources

If I never saw another formulaic engagement bait tweet with a interesting statement about a topic followed by a little sentence directing people to the below thread I could die happy.

Did you feel that? Vancouver’s most common foe is the relentless raindrop. Inspired by classic Japanese anime storytelling and our beautiful climate, our very own Manuel Neto took a personal character study and transformed it into this fun homage. Staying dry never felt so fun.
