Post-Mortem Sperm Retrieval – organizational policy I am interested in this policy because of how shocking it was to see. The ethical implications are so much to unpack. This policy is going to be changed time and time again as society and technology advances. #NUR4108JX #W1

Post-mortem Sperm Retrieval, was likely prompted by societal/tech changes. Without any current laws, this policy serves as a guideline. In order for higher level policies to be created, bioethical, legal and biohazard handling sources would have to be consulted. #NUR4108JX #W2

Question 2: The Action Alliance can support effective healthcare delivery systems by discussing possible improvements with nurses and their patients, not with corporate stakeholders who don't get firsthand experiences with the systems and policies they create. #NUR4108JX #W3

The stakeholders in UF's Post Mortem Sperm Retrieval policy include the institution itself - its physicians, ethics committee and legal counsel. This policy would also directly impact the deceased patient and the deceased patient's family/partner/spouse. #NUR4108JX #W6

Q4: The info I would like to have includes waiting time for admissions in the ED and med-surg and reasons for admission to med-surge vs the reasons for discharge. I would also like to have nursing surveys that allow for their input on what is going wrong. #NUR4108JX #W7

1. Healthcare Access and Quality 2. RNs can educate patients to utilize local and government resources to screen for health problems and get preventative care (immunizations) 3. This would be regional advocacy. #NUR4108JX #W8

The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act. I can analyze patient and staff behaviors while actively preventing hostile and violent situations via de-escalation and talking with the nurse manager, charge nurse and the chaplain. #NUR4108JX #W9

Technology is vital to post-mortem sperm retrieval and it makes the process possible. In the future, it will possibly allow for ovum retrieval, which will add to the complexity of the policies. #NUR4108JX #W10

The Federal Anti-Kickback Act of 1986 prohibits physicians from receiving any form of compensation for referrals, services, etc. This will protect patients from unneccesary appointments and/or suboptimal care. #NUR4108JX #W11
