83 years ago, Janush Korchak , the head of an orphanage in Warsaw, decided that he would not save his own life and that he would accompany his students to the death camp of Treblinka where they were all were murdered by the Germans and their helpers.

At approximately 6:40am this morning, firefighters were called to Grouville Bay to rescue 14 cows from in the water. The cows appear to have walked along the beach and, when their safe exit was cut off by the high tide, they swam out to sea. 📸 Courtesy of Jon Guegan at jepnews

On this day in 1941, a 37 year old Polish man perished in Auschwitz. He was the son of the former Polish president and was arrested for refusing to expel Jewish lawyers from the Warsaw Bar. His name was Edmund Wojciechowski Please support Auschwitz Memorial 1/2

If you haven’t seen it, I recommend watching the remake of BERGERAC. Grittier than the original but an excellent screenplay and beautifully filmed. Even better if you go for the binge.

Today is the 50th anniversary of my becoming a barrister. 18,264 days. 438,336 hours - an awful lot of them billable. The court usher asked me: will I be celebrating the next 50. Optimistic. I am not taking appointments after 2030. Yet.
