Your Mum waits 40hours for an ambulance so BP don’t have to pay tax. Your kids can’t afford University so Amazon don’t have to pay tax. Your sister can’t get housing so Google don’t have to pay tax. Your Gran’s lost her Winter Fuel Payment so Vodaphone don’t have to pay tax.

Ministers to agree £500m Tata Steel subsidy. Company will own resulting assets & income streams. Govt will get no shares, amount not repayable. Ministers say this will stimulate the economy. So would spending by cold pensioners, hungry children and poor. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

If it wasn't clear at the time, it is clear now. Rishi Sunak and Jeremy Hunt poisoned the wells and salted the fields to ensure they left Labour a terrible inheritance. The supposed party of law and order preferred manufacturing a prison crisis to doing the right thing

Britain rejoining the single market is inevitable, whether in five years' time or twenty. It's just a matter of whether Labour embrace this before they get eaten by Brexit, as the Tories were, or if the Conservative party sees the light and gets there first.

The man who bankrolled the disastrous destruction of Andrew Neil's reputation as a broadcaster has bought his magazine! In the meantime, Marshall was outed as serial promoter of hideous far right rhetoric & anti-Muslim hatred... So he'll fit right in.

This is easily solved by the government by insisting all energy companies offer a social tariff set at half the usual rate AT THEIR COST. Anyone on low income or disability benefits should be automatically added.

Question. If you have worked your whole life on the equivalent of minimum wage so you've been unable to invest in a private pension, shouldn't the government ensure your state pension is AT LEAST the same as the living wage? If your answer is no, please explain why.

One of the most important indicators on how well a society is functioning is how well it looks after it's old, vulnerable & disabled. Social cohesion creates the environment for every person & the economy to flourish. By that measure the UK is failing everyone.

I'm sitting in St Thomas hospital in A&E with a possible broken wrist. I wish that the Marsham Street pavement didn't have so many sticking up paving stones. Had to cancel meetings ☹️

Apple loses EU court battle over €13bn tax bill in Ireland. Interesting use of competition law to curb tax abuses HMRC does no such thing. No UK info about sweetheart tax deals done. No estimate of tax lost due to profit shifting. Billions lost. theguardian.com/technology/art…

The #climate is on track to exceed 2°C of warming by ~2035 - at that level, these regions will probably become uninhabitable for much of the year: Nasiriya (#Iraq) – 48.7°C Safi-Abad Dezful (#Iran) – 48.6°C The extreme heat we're seeing now is just a glimpse of what's to come.

Rightwing billionaires pump hundreds of millions of pounds a year into loss-making propaganda publications and television stations while the left doesn't even have an influential weekly magazine. That's why political debate in this country is skewed in one direction alone.

These are alarming precipitation forecasts for Austria, Czechia, and Poland for rain fall until Sunday morning. Most of it will fall on Friday and Saturday. The ICON-EU and GFS predictions are potentially disastrous:

Shell operates in Norway, 76% of the money goes to Norway, 24% to Shell. Shell operates in the UK, 20% of the money goes to the UK, 80% to Shell. Robbing tens of billions every single year.

However much you oppose only giving the winter fuel allowance to those on pension credit, pause to gasp at jaw-dropping hypocrisy of Tory crocodile tears in the Commons today: no tears when Osborne cut benefits for the very poorest children by £37bn

UK primary class sizes are among the biggest in the industrialised world, 27 per teacher. OECD average 21. Larger than Mexico, Turkey & Colombia. Children and the country's future pay the price of austerity, real wage cuts. More austerity on the horizon theguardian.com/education/arti…

In last night's presidential debate, Trump did his very best to look like that demented old uncle you had to put in a care home for his own safety Meanwhile Taylor Swift came out & backed Harris, calling on her young fans to register to vote A disastrous night of his own making
