Another very bad housing move from Wu. This is an insanely destructive proposal, and one that even rent control believers should oppose. Hard to overstate the damage it could do open.substack.com/pub/jamespicci… #mapoli

Exciting! But of course, it would be much better if they just *did* it instead of studying it. We’re not exactly lacking comparisons with other states, just take their work!

Would be good for some #mapoli folks to take note of. IZ mandates (20%!!) are a big part of suffocating development in the region. State should step in to curb it.

Sim City 4 is responsible for both my extreme passion and my relative cynicism for municipal politics. A truly great game, I miss the Maxis sense of humor

Breaking: We've obtained video of Border Patrol abandoning Nurul Shah Alam, the Buffalo refugee. Border Patrol claimed the shop was open. The doors, however were locked. Agents never notified family or lawyers. Shah Alam died 5 days later. TIMELINE: investigativepost.org/2026/02/26/tim…

Inclusionary zoning is so so so bad, and one of the fights YIMBYs really need to earnestly take on. Unfortunately it’s such a popular ‘compromise’ that few want to publicly take it on

10 parking spaces, 4 affordable units, 10 min walk from red line, on a 4-lane road in commercial area. Hard to make a better case for why public comment is pointless. These are not serious or good people quite frankly!

Depressing to remember Wu came into office promising to address all these issues, and then did basically nothing on the root cause: housing!

James (@jamespswag) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Aw man I was gonna write on this, but he lays it out so well! It's a costly top-down mandate that makes little sense and doesn't *improve service*, which should always be the goal! Much like the Red Line and CRRC, Beacon Hill is hamstringing the T!

It is insane to now see the Boston's top development officials get in front of the council and say they're "proud" of the "success" of the 20% unfunded IZ mandate! 2022-25 saw the fewet multifam units permitted in a deacde! Asleep at the wheel. youtu.be/pVbyhDPGY98?t=…

This project—now getting $80M+ in federal funding—has been in design for six years. There’s been dozens of meetings, thousands of comments, thousands of pages of reports. It is absurd to claim “we need more answers”. Do you know what else took 6 years? WW2!

Good point. Progressives complain about builds like this, but it’s largely a result of the policies they enacted! Zoning and regs spike costs and kill middle market developers, and you’re left with uncaring huge devs and a few small affordable devs.

The liquor law license system is absurd and has to go. Ofc nothing to do with Puritan values, just rent seeking restaurant groups and a selfish legislature
