Important read: nor "Russia first" under Obama, neither "Russia second" policy under Trump will make America great again. It will make Russian empire great again. American weakness always attracks Russian (and Chinese) new aggression. America wake up! bushcenter.org/publications/a…

I can’t emphasise enough how the administration is filling up with cranks and fruitcakes. Here is the Pentagon’s new deputy press secretary, for example.

Great book - you should read it! I already did (thx to an early copy) & it’s terrific - fresh, insightful & well written. Oliver Moody draws important lessons from the Baltic region to show what’s at stake in the battle for Europe’s future - & how we win it.

The “underlying cause” of the “crisis” is that Russia is led by a dictator who demands its neighbours be incorporated into his sphere of influence. Neither Ukraine nor its European allies can accept his ultimatum. Hard to square this circle. bbc.co.uk/news/live/cgj5…

I'm not holding my breath for our analytical culture to change overnight. Too many equities/too many egos are invested in the status quo. So, we keep repeating the same mistakes, with predictable results. Only with each turn, our resources are fewer, and the price goes up. 10/10

Trump 45’ had Fiona Hill, an acknowledged expert on Putin (wrote the best book by far on him), as his Russia adviser. Trump 47’ has Witkoff as his Russia adviser, who knows nothing about RU, UKR, or Putin apart from seeing him as a nice, trustworthy guy.

For some, helping Ukraine is not worth the possibility of war. But if Russia is allowed to continue unopposed, almost everything is at risk, writes James Nixey (CH Russia Eurasia). chathamhouse.org/2025/05/zelens…

It will be amusing to watch Donald try to persuade Iran to give up their nukes at the same as Donald supports Russia's invasion of a country that gave up their nukes in exchange for a US assurance they wouldn't be invaded. axios.com/2025/06/13/tru…
