๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ yes I admit that this was me before we had our severely disabled daughter. I thought we'd be directed to some lovely, inclusive, nurturing parallel universe. Instead I found only disgusting public toilet floors to change her on & no play equipment in our parks for her to use.

Pre-teaching Tier 3 vocabulary is one of the key ways teachers can make complex texts accessible. Using prefixes, suffixes and their etymology is a highly effective way of doing this. Here is a 5 step approach and examples: ๐Ÿงต

I feel that teachers will always have a role as a sort of unofficial...social worker? Supporting pupils from challenging home lives who need an adult to provide therapeutic support; usually seen as behaviour management. Can't yet seen how AI can support these pupils directly

I have a child in my class with #autism who finds it hilarious to knock over juice cups at breakfast time, tipping the juice all over the table. Itโ€™s very deliberate, knows itโ€™s wrongโ€ฆ how can I stop this behaviour? #SEND #autism

Surprisingly, mums often excuse a lot of toxic boy behaviour in schools. Dads don't like to hear about their sons hitting or threatening girls. Mums, in my experience, more defensive of their angels. telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/โ€ฆ

There are people angry that children will be taught that the Vikings had links to the Islamic world. These links are true. It's not political correctness, it's just reality.

Remember, if you want to help SEND children at primary school, just give the teachers more paperwork. That will definitely help. Absolute insanity how much time and energy is wasted on things that sound great but add nothing.

As the year draws to a close, I'm sharing my Y6 reading folder (though there are some random bits in like some Y2 lessons) for free, which is full of Y6 whole class reading lessons. drive.google.com/drive/folders/โ€ฆ Plus my (very long) blog on how we teach it: mrboothy6.wordpress.com/2025/01/03/whoโ€ฆ

What a student's book looks like has little-to-no bearing on how much that student has learned; if your observations are going to focus on the books, your teachers are going to spend more time on children taking notes and glueing in sheets than modelling and explaining.

The Crusaders were more interested in personal gain than the spread of Islam. They took any opportunity they could to steal, even from Christians.
