Last week we had fantastic scientific discussions and presentations from junior and senior PI’s on Dynamic Catalysis in the Lorentz Center! I wanted to thank the organizers for letting me share our work on responsive catalysts and for the beautiful tour in Leiden’s canals!

There is still a postdoctoral opening related to this project. Applicants with expertise in programming and machine learning interatomic potentials can send me a CV and motivational letter.

Ready for the trip to Xi’An, Changzhou, and Beijing! For the next weeks I will be visiting the key institute for fluorine research, Changzhou University, and the institute of Food Science and Technology. I look forward to consolidating collaborations with our Chinese colleagues!

Yesterday, we had the chance to visit the facilities of XiAn Institute for Modern Chemistry and give invited lectures. Fantastic discussions and lovely dinner afterwards in the traditional Tang Dynasty. Thank you so much!

Yesterday, we had a great time visiting Prof. Mingshing Li, Prof. Jie Zhu, and Dr. Pengcheng Huang, and Changzhou University. All of them alumni from University of Twente. I look forward to consolidating our collaboration!

Thanks to Dr. Bo Jiao and Prof. Shi for hosting me at the Institute for food science and technology in Beijing. I enjoyed greatly the discussions on food applications of Pickering emulsions and catalysis. Terrific team of young scientists and students!

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Fraser. A great friend, colleague, and amazing scientist, he will be dearly missed. It is hard to believe that he is no longer among us. So energetic and always there for the chemical community, especially encouraging young scientists.

Last Friday we had the international dinner at the group. Each person brought a dish from their own country or from a random place after rolling the roll wheel of surprises. Leon taught us how to eat herring! And then, we had karaoke. All in all fantastic evening!
