This looks to be a really promising step forward in understanding how we can get legumes to continue to effectively and reliably fix N even in higher N systems. So important if we want to become less reliant on bagged fert. Great work by Dugald Reid and team 👍🏻

A new study on Eucalyptus forests adds to evidence that the global CO2-driven carbon sink may be overestimated by models. Learn more in this week’s issue of Science Advances: scim.ag/7yc

Very sad to hear the passing away of Jim Barrow. A great soil scientist who started to work on phosphorus in the 60's. Famous to disentangle the soil P sorption, he was also known to shake the scientific community by challenging well anchored methods - soil P fractionation.

If you manage gorse in Australia then I want to hear from you! I'm gathering diverse perspectives from Aus on gorse management - meaning anyone who manages gorse in some way, scale doesn't matter. Survey is anonymous, most Qs are optional. Please share! 🇦🇺 forms.gle/5jE6kv3Q9qFPf2…

Fully agree with Mark Farrell . Original article cited by Giles is mainly expression of opinion and not based on evidence. Of course rotations etc important but if crops remove (say) 100kg of nutrients they have to come from somewhere. They don't appear by magic!
