Mikki Kendall Respectfully, ion think it’s about admixture. A chunk of our ancestors actually didn’t come over w/ 4c hair. They already had looser curl patterns. West/central africans be runnin round with loosely curled hair too. I know many with curl looser than mine. These ladies are 🇬🇭🇬🇳🇨🇲

Mikki Kendall These curl patterns can be found in Africans independent of euro or even arab admixture so it’s very tricky to attribute curl patterns among us to admixture , especially in the case of brown & dark skinned black americans.

Girls with this skin tone have never not been in season. They’re literally the only girls that get booked to tick the diversity box so pls… hang it up.

The fba qts are full of illiterates. How is it an insult to celebrate one's ancestral phenotype? Black Americans didn't spawn from the hills of the Appalachian mountains. U were stolen as slaves from the African continent.

so glad someone pointed this out because one of the first things that came to mind was the recent spate of examples of FBA/ADOS accounts attacking AAs who they thought “look(ed) African”

Jay Versace isn’t complaining about the fetishization of those read as African He’s complaining that the fetishization gives them more access and more jobs He’s resentful of what he perceives to be an inverse of the desirability hierarchy in modeling spaces.

Mind you modeling itself is a space with violent beauty politic There is nothing legitimate about complaining about exclusion in modeling because beauty is inherently exclusionary Fat people, short people etc are all excluded. So complaints are often self serving

Fetishisation is a cop out, no need to explain it for to them, Eurocentric, Fetish or l featurism were never questioned when Joan Smalls, Jasmine Tookes, Chanel Iman, and more were dominating the industry, why are these convos only when it’s deep dark skinned African?

Anyway. You guys better hope these crackers in office don’t start deporting people who they think “looks African”. Many of you will be speechless on that flight to Ghana with a boiled egg in your lap.

Stop calling us ‘Seminole’ we are African descended and proud, thank you. We look straight like our African ancestors especially those of us with roots from SC/Georgia. Nun Seminole about it.
