Today, I was with Norwegian Refugee Council in Kanaruchinya, a few kms from Goma, DRC. Almost a million IDPs have recently arrived because of the escalation in the conflict. They are hungry & don't have water. We urgently need increased funding and diplomatic efforts to push for a cease fire.

Appalled by the news of the attack on a displacement camp in Ituri, #DRC, resulting in 45 deaths, including 23 children. Those responsible for this unspeakable atrocity should be brought to justice, and all civilians should be protected – they are #NotATarget!

In Ituri, an epicentre of the forgotten and neglected crisis in Eastern DR Congo, 3000 students need to share 12 classrooms. It is four times the number of pupils some months back. We must not continue the neglect of millions of children in the cataclysmic violence of the DRC.

Meet Lambert Kegde, a community teacher in CAR. In #CAR, 8 in 10 teachers are "maîtres-parents". The lack of qualified teachers has a terrible effect on education, with only 6 in 100 pupils graduate from secondary school. #WorldTeachersDay nrc.no/perspectives/2…

A leaked briefing to next EU Commissioner for development says EU aid should be a transactional tool for EU interests rather than meet the needs of victims of poverty, war, disasters & neglect. If EU wants to stand for human rights & “European civilisation” this must be rejected.

Proud of my NRC colleagues in Dori, Sahel region, northern Burkina Faso. We can only access Dori thanks to the essential @UNHAS helicopters. The roads to Dori are too dangerous due to rampant armed violence. Aid work is difficult, dangerous, expensive, but possible & so needed.

Since 25 Jan, conflict in eastern DR #Congo has displaced thousands. Goma, Nyiragongo, and Saké are in crisis, with services suspended and humanitarian workers response on-site is very limited. Immediate action is crucial to prevent a catastrophe.
