The SDS didn't need to start surveillance of CPGB because they'd already been doing that with embedded undercover officers for decades. Of course, most CP members agreed with the CND. MI5 would already have known that from their existing scrutiny of communists.

My father was spied on for 40 years. We will never know the who the 'delicate sources' close to our family were.

Today’s evidence at the #spycops inquiry covered spying on women’s peace organisations & plans for a jumble sale, a disco, & a picnic plus details about a group’s bank balance. Spying on non-violent activist meetings with 10 women present. A monumental waste of pubic money.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I DONT think it was a waste of money from the establishment's point of view. I believe they largely got the effect they wanted.
