1st grade is working on a line and pattern ocean design. The water is made with different types of line and patterns. Then they were able to add a boat on the top of the water. Students are tracing their lines with crayons and will be adding watercolor paint soon.

2nd grade is working on the element of art called line. We are using types of line to make a spaceship blasting off! When finished with crayon students will learn how to do a wax resist painting with watercolor paint.

Several grade levels have been learning about Tony Sarg who was an American Puppeteer. We read the book Ballons Over Broadway. He designed the balloons for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Then they had the chance to design and draw their own balloon over Broadway.

5th graders had the opportunity to share progress on their digital self portraits today. We screen shared to our new TV and students were thrilled to see their work. Students shared something they are having a hard time on and others gave ideas to help! Such an exciting day!

3rd gr is working on drama mask inspired by Greek drama mask.

2nd gr has been learning about Greece and the columns on the Parthenon. We did a torn/cut paper background to represent sky and land. We are now working on the columns using paper and straws.

2nd gr looked at Romaro Britto's heart artwork and is working on their own heart artwork this week. The first picture is of student artwork. The second is an example of Britto's artwork.

Last weekend was the FAME festival. This is the large art show our school participates in. Our student Kamryn received a Mayor's Choice Award! Not many of these are given out. She will have a chance to meet the mayor and her artwork will be on display at the Mayor's office!

5th gr working on color and movement project. Some questions and vocab we have talked about so far...How do we show movement in art? How does color show how we feel in our art? Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary colors on the color wheel.

4th graders were introduced to Scandinavian Folk Art. We have started working on a folk art inspired fox. I think everyone is doing a wonderful job so far! I am excited to see them finished.

5th grade working on their digital artwork inspired Norwegian painter Edvard Munch's The Scream. Fun using our own photo to be in the picture and using Keynote to put it all together.

2nd graders are excited to start working with ozobots!!! Students are working with color coding the robots to move and then will be doing light trail photography from their light.

5th grade finishing their recycled art books! Excited to take a lot of these to our art show coming up.

2nd grade light trail photography using Ozobots. Students drew color codes for the Ozobot and then are using a Slow Shutter Camera App to capture the light trail from the Ozobot. Lots of excitement in the art room today.

1st grade is working on Alexander Calder inspired sculptures. They used foam for the base, pipe cleaners, cut foam shapes, and some beads.

3rd grade working on Van Gogh inspired sunflowers. Really enjoying using oil pastels to layer.

5th grade is working on Styrofoam printmaking with markers. They are doing 4 different color schemes for the prints...analogous, triadic, complementary, and monochromatic. We are then going to choose the best 4 and mount together. We learned about Andy Warhol and his prints.
