Happy Pride Month! 🌈 reminder as we head into this wonderful month that the commercial visibility of Pride over the past few years has often excluded the voices of those most marginalized. 💗

I no longer care about possible government waste when it comes to public goods and services. If a library is open 24 hours a day, and the only person that uses said library is a little old lady who reads 'Pride and Prejudice' from 3:15-4:45 on Tuesday, that is not waste.

The Vancouver Island Local History Society presents our Last Hurrah at Point Ellice House on April 22nd. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to discuss the gardens, the historic house, and our many accomplishments during our management of the site. #YYJ

While working in our archives, I found an old metal box. Inside was a long-forgotten roll of silent 8mm film marked 'The Philippines 1942'

Excited at possibly discovering lost WW II footage, I sent it to specialists for care and digitization.

Yesterday, it came back. On it was:

One of the most beloved free-to-use photos in the Library's collection is of Brünnhilde, for obvious reasons. We're happy to report that 2023 comes with a freshly digitized photograph of Brünnhilde from another angle. 😻
