I'm Andrea and I'm the EngageDC leader for the Latino Student Fund. I'm a sophomore in Elliott, and I've been working with the organization for almost a year. #engagedc

I'm Hannah and I'm the EngageDC leader for US Dream Academy. I'm a sophomore in CCASS, and this is my first year working with the Nashman Center. I actually spend spring semester last year volunteering with the LSF! #engagedc

Today we're going to talk about our favorite thing....service!! We'll also share ways that GWU students can get involved in engageDC and the greater DC area! #engagdc

A little bit about our organizations- the Latino Student fund is a non-profit working for educational access achievement and attainment for underserved Pre-K-12 students and families in the DC and Maryland area. #engagedc

US Dream Academy is an after school mentoring program that empower children who have been affected by incarceration, by helping them realize their full potential in and outside of school. It operates in over 7 major cities! #engagedc #usdreamacademy

We wanted to talk about the LSF and US Dream Academy because they both work with young children growing up in often difficult conditions, and understand how important it is to empower kids at an early age! #engagedc

Both organization focus on the fact that with the right tools, kids have the ability to do great things #service #engagedc

The Latino Student Fund runs tutoring programs, computer literacy training, and college prep classes. Since 1994 it has constantly evolved to fit the needs of the latino community #engagedc

Over the past 20 years, the LSF has constantly changed to suit the needs of the Latino community in DC and Maryland: #engagedc

US Dream Academy serves over 700 kids every year by creating after school program that provide an empowering learning event, where classes are taught on everything from financial literacy to art #engagedc

Last year, US Dream Academy even brought its communities from Baltimore, Washington DC, and Philadelphia to sing with the Takoma Academy Choir:

My favorite thing about the Latino student Fund is the personalized experiences each and every child receives in the program- it has been amazing to see the student I work with every week figure out what they are passionate about! #engagedc #service

Throughout the year, my favorite thing about US Dream Academy is the range of activities that the program organizes for all its students- one day students will learn about nutrition, and the next focus on arts and readings. Every day is empowering and challenging! #engagedc
