Great evening last night for our DCU Centre for Climate & Society students, alumni & staff with a performance by comedian Colm O'Regan of his #climate worrier show. Highly recommend the show and his book!
TASC will host its third webinar of the #sharedisland series on Tuesday March 28th at 11am. Clare Bailey John Barry and Ian Marshall OBE will discuss how communities across the island of Ireland can cooperate in the area of #climatejustice. Register here👉shorturl.at/hinB4
Three takeaways from President Higgins incredibly rich and rousing speech at 21st birthday for TASC - Think tank for Action on Social Change today: 1. Green growth won’t get us out of the ecological catastrophe we face. Sufficiency for all, not accumulated wealth for a few.
I was lucky enough to get a tour of Derrinlough briquette factory in March. Incredible place & history that should now be turned in to a vital community resource for a just transition. Bord na Móna has a public remit, not just commercial. thejournal.ie/readme/bord-na…
We are really looking forward to launching our new report 'Fair Clare' on socio economic rights and a just transition next Mon 6th Nov in the Temple Gate Hotel at 7pm. All welcome, you can read the report and book tickets at this link: clareppn.ie/clare-ppn-to-l…
Launch of ‘Towards a Green & Just Transition in Ballyhoura’ report, the culmination of an extensive process undertaken by TASC - Think tank for Action on Social Change, Ballyhoura Development CLG and over 600 community members from across the #Ballyhoura area
TASC is delighted to see our Fair Clare report, in partnership with @Clare_PPN, feature in Irish Human Rights & Equality Commission's submission to the UN. Our research shows that for a transition to be just, communities must be supported with improved public service provision using a rights-based approach.
Up next, our first panel of the day on the role of policy in climate action. Featuring Dr Sinead Walsh, Sushila, Róisín Greaney and Dr Darren Clarke. The session will be chaired by Dr Ross Carroll Law and Gov DCU DCU History & Geog #DCUClimate2024
Róisín Greaney, Researcher and Community Engagement Coordinator TASC - Think tank for Action on Social Change (and a graduate of the Dublin City University MSc in Climate Change): we need to consider social inequalities of climate justice - age, race, gender - as well as broader issues around who gets a seat at the table #DCUClimate2024
On a panel on policy and long-term climate inequality, Róisín Greaney asks how we can harness this moment of climate transition to improve standards of living and persistent inequalities #DCUClimate2024
We're at the #DCUClimate2024 Climate Justice Across Generations conference with Mary Robinson. Brilliant to hear from contributors including young people and Roisin of TASC - Think tank for Action on Social Change advocating for care to be valued in our just transition #FeministClimateJustice
Great climate conference Dublin City University with powerful keynotes from Mary Robinson, Ella Saltmarshe & Children & Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity on intergenerational climate justice. Really enjoyed this 👇 panel with Darren Clarke Sushila & Róisín Greaney where we talked Loss & Damage, just transition, degrowth & more
I enjoyed chairing this panel on policy and climate inequities with Sinead Walsh, Róisín Greaney, Sushila Pandit, and Darren Clarke at the DCU Centre for Climate & Society annual conference. Lots to chew over from the limitations of Loss and Damage Funds to “bottom-up” approaches to just transition.
