#OTD in 1967, Otis Redding and the Stax/Volt review pulled up at the Glasgow Locarno, in Sauchiehall Street (later Tiffanys). Can you imagine the magic, and all for just 17 shillings and sixpence? Image courtesy of Ron Milne, drummer with Studio Six.

This artist's impression of Glasgow by air c1897 is not only #SomethingBig in itself, but includes Tennant's Stalk in the top right corner. The giant chimney at St Rollox Chemical Works was the tallest in the world (435 ft) when it was built in 1842 #Archive30 Ref: T-CN19/3/9

Strathblane Children's Hospital Home and Open Air School, c1916. Opened in 1913, the home provided long-term care for chronically sick children from Glasgow. Its countryside setting was a deliberate counterpoint to the industrial city conditions #HealthArchives #Archive30

A wee pop of Friday colour. It's the 1950s, and we're upstairs in the St Enoch Station hotel, looking down on the square; we could get our bearings in the Art Deco tourist centre, built for the 1938 Empire Exhibition, or grab a bite/pint in His Lordship's Larder. Pic: Unknown

Countryside Ranger Corner🍃 Look out for the rarely seen orange and coppery brown Comma butterfly. With an unmistakable wing shape it also has a white 'comma' on its underwing. They're slowly moving here due to climate change. 📷Dr Scott Shanks More 👉ow.ly/tnyP50ICUsC

That time a millionaire New York art dealer and postcard collector (Andy Warhol's one-time agent) thought he had found the Holy Grail; a Glasgow postcard, from 1912, featuring a newsbill reporting the sinking of The Titanic
