Formally a geography teacher, before that a glacial PhD, now working to improve rivers and a climate charity trustee on the side.

Back in Winchester after a bit of time in the NW last week visiting other Pre-U schools LRGS Geography and Shrewsbury Geography. Amazing CPD, loads of great ideas and just really fun. However, I'm now deeply jealous of the fieldwork opportunities available to both!

Thanks as well to Chris Pyle for hosting me at LRGS. A very impressive school all round and a real privilege to get to spend time in a range of areas including the boarding houses.

Great to have a Glacsweb Nature Comms paper based on our work on Skalafellsjokul emerge today: nature.com/articles/s4146…

🌎🗓 T-38 days until #EarthDay50 Timelapses of glaciers from space show us how rapidly our planet is changing. Using USGS/ARCHIVED - NASA Landsat imagery, we can watch glaciers in Alaska flow over 48 years. go.nasa.gov/39U2JUm

Readers: Remember this when you see an article by Bjorn Lomborg. He is a serial & likely deliberate "misinterpret[er]" of climate science. Editors: Remember this when tempted to run articles written by Bjorn Lomborg. If you still run his piece, the "misinformation" is on you.

Hopefully the case study is better than the mind numbing case studies I did on the Cairngorm ski lift...#glacialenvironmentalmanagement

I still hold that dilution of the 6th form physical geography syllabus with human management topics is ridiculous. Needs resolving.

I'm completely behind an overt focus on reading in class. Source is probably better than me/increases self reliance/excellent prep for uni x.com/olivercaviglio…

Does anyone have strong feelings on the best geomorphology textbook? Anderson & Anderson? Huggett? Bierman & Montgomery?#geomorph
