As for the complaint against TV Pirveli, lawyer Tornike Migineishvili says it claims that “TV Pirveli's journalist should not have used terms like ‘regime’, ‘Russification’, ‘clan court’, etc.”

Ivanishvili’s kangaroo court has sentenced innocent 21-year-old protestor Mate Devidze to 4 years and 6 months in prison simply for wanting a future of freedom for his country of Georgia. Nino Galutashvili and the other perpetrators of this heinous crime must face sanctions!

🚨 Nika Gvaramia didn’t attend court — because there is no court, only Ivanishvili’s obedient servants. Instead, he packed his bag, drank a coffee, said goodbye to his children — and walked to the prison himself. He’s not fleeing justice. He’s exposing its absence.

Georgia sinks deeper into autocracy. Opposition leader Nika Gvaramia imprisoned — joining Melia and Japaridze behind bars. Ivanishvili tightens his grip, crushing dissent and erasing judicial independence. We must act before Georgia becomes another Belarus.

In today’s Georgia, families prepare loved ones for prison the way others prepare for homecoming. Nika Gvaramia walked to the prison himself. Not because he was guilty but because we all knew the verdict before it was spoken. #PoliticalPrisoner #Georgia #injustice

The most recent decision by Georgian Dream to imprison Nika Gvaramia, a political opponent and leader of the "Coalition for Change" party, is a remarkable demonstration of what this political entity actually represents. (1/2)

Nika Gvaramia is the third opposition leader jailed for rejecting the GD regime’s sham commission. Georgia slides deeper into authoritarianism daily. It's disgraceful how little EU Member States are doing in response EU Council. Sanctions for Ivanishvili and his cronies NOW!

The Soviet Georgian Ivanishvili regime arrests Nika Gvaramia in another attempt to silence the opposition. Reminds of Belarus. For the EU Commission it is time to start the procedure of art 421 and 422 of the association agreement. The regime is in blatant breach of article 2!

Giorgi Butikashvili (@giorgibutikash2) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Art. 2 = Georgia must uphold democracy, rule of law, and human rights. Art. 421 = The EU can start consultations and “appropriate measures” if obligations are violated. Art. 422 = The EU can suspend the agreement if Georgia violates the democratic core of the treaty.

Georgia is not Iran, not Russia, not China. It needs external connections. Even business elites close to the ruling party depend on global ties. That’s why sanctions hurt - they create pressure and cracks within the regime.

What should the EU do next? First: Clearly describe the reality. This isn’t just a political crisis. This is a state taken over by Russia without a fight. Democracy and institutions are being dismantled - just like in Russia.
