1905 saw McDowall Steven take over postbox manufacture from Handyside. Their new design inset the aperture into the door and added the square next collection tablets. They ushered in a century of Scottish postbox manufacturing, which only ended in 2014 #postboxsaturday

This drop-dead gorgeous post office/village shop is in Heptonstall, Yorkshire. James Uttley was the 20thC rural postman here walking an astonishing 25+ miles a day. He was finally given two assistant posties, which meant he could reduce his round to just 14 miles #PostboxSaturday
