Roast rack of Welsh lamb, leeks & broad beans, girolle mushrooms, lamb jus at Y Marram. The lamb was of such high quality I can only recall eating better once in my life (at The Square, some 13 years ago).

Starters at the Parkers Arms: crab gratin, tuna and tomato empanada, and a pork and venison pasty. Pastry is always great here but the pasty pastry was truly exceptional today.

Mains at the Parkers Arms: beef pie, cheese and onion pie, gorgeous porchetta, and halibut with mussel and cider sauce and a really fine pilaf rice made from the mussel stock.

Superb breakfast at Y Marram on Anglesey. Buttermilk fried chicken, muffin, poached egg, hollandaise; lamb schnitzel, capers and pear, fried egg; and a full Welsh breakfast. Everything local and of excellent quality. Struggling to remember the last time I had a fry up this good.
