Blissful afternoon spent reading Richard Olney by the sea.

Went to Y Marram, ordered all the savoury courses on the menu, and had a wonderful old time. Easily the best food on Anglesey. Photos coming up…

Hand-dived scallop ceviche, radish, golden raisins, onion broth at Y Marram. Beautiful dish, perfectly balanced.

Braised pork jowl, sticky glaze, radicchio, gherkin, apple at Y Marram.

Kale & ricotta agnolotti, chilli, tomato, courgette at Y Marram.

Charred Chinese cabbage, walnut, toasted almonds, sourdough ajo blanco at Y Marram.

Lobster & scallop raviolo, fermented crispy chilli XO sauce, lobster bisque, agretti at Y Marram. Sauce was so good we had to order extra bread.

Wild Maltraeth sea bass, mussel cawl, poached Menai mussels, kohlrabi at Y Marram.

Roast rack of Welsh lamb, leeks & broad beans, girolle mushrooms, lamb jus at Y Marram. The lamb was of such high quality I can only recall eating better once in my life (at The Square, some 13 years ago).

Dry-aged porterhouse steak, beef sauce, textured spinach at Y Marram.

Whole-baked wild Maltraeth sea bass, fish butter sauce at Y Marram. Good local produce, perfectly cooked, with a nice sauce. What’s not to love?

Crispy potato skins and oyster snacks at the Parkers Arms. There were some cheese and potato puffs too but they were gone before I had chance to lift my phone.

Starters at the Parkers Arms: crab gratin, tuna and tomato empanada, and a pork and venison pasty. Pastry is always great here but the pasty pastry was truly exceptional today.

Mains at the Parkers Arms: beef pie, cheese and onion pie, gorgeous porchetta, and halibut with mussel and cider sauce and a really fine pilaf rice made from the mussel stock.

Superb breakfast at Y Marram on Anglesey. Buttermilk fried chicken, muffin, poached egg, hollandaise; lamb schnitzel, capers and pear, fried egg; and a full Welsh breakfast. Everything local and of excellent quality. Struggling to remember the last time I had a fry up this good.
