We are concerned by reports that the government will proceed with plans to tighten eligibility for incapacity support next week. While this is a much easier lever for government to pull, the likely result is higher destitution and further pressure on public services.

We want to see the government chart a new course at the Budget, one based on positive engagement and recognition of the challenges families face and the support they need to overcome them. The full report is available at: actionforchildren.org.uk/our-work-and-i…

Every child in care deserves a safe and loving home. But we know that isn’t the case for every child in NI. Can you spare 5 minutes to contact your MP and MLAs to ask them to stand up for care-experienced children and young people? actionforchildren.uk/WriteToMP #APlaceToCallHome #NCLW

Dear media (2): More people are on health/disability benefits because more people are ill. they’re iller for longer because: A. Getting treatment is hard & takes ages. B. We trap them in abject poverty. NOT because disability benefits are too easy to get or too generous. 1/2

It's been great to work so closely with friends and partners at The Children's Society NSPCC National Children's Bureau Barnardo’s this year! Highlights include two brilliant party conference events, dashing around in a van round London and handing in a petition to Number 10!

Join us in Central Hall Westminster on 19th March for the launch of our Paying the Price report and campaign. There will be a presentation of findings, a panel of sector experts, as well as parents and young people speaking about their own experiences.

Children shouldn't be #PayingThePrice of poverty. The government needs to step up and invest in change. I've just taken Action for Children, signing an open letter and writing to my MP. Will you join me? take.actionforchildren.org.uk/page/167678/ac…

We joined End Child Poverty in Westminster this morning to stand together against rising child poverty. Today's figures show 4.5 million children are now in poverty in the UK - and yesterday’s benefit reforms will push an additional 50,000 children into poverty by 2030.

The latest figures of 4.5 million, showing 200,000 more children living in poverty, are the highest levels of child poverty the UK has seen in decades. Sign the letter from young campaigners calling for the #ChildPovertyStrategy to deliver on its promises bit.ly/4lngEaX

UNICEF UK's new analysis exposes the stark impact of deprivation on babies and young children’s life chances across England. It finds that young children living in areas with higher levels of deprivation have poorer outcomes across the board. (1/5)

📣 UNICEF UK is calling on the UK Government to urgently to lift the two-child limit and the benefit cap and commit to investing in the vital health and education services that support children during their crucial early years. Read the report here: bit.ly/UNICEFuk (5/5)

We are proud to be able to show how widespread the support from UNICEF UK supporters and the UK public is for the Government to put children first in tomorrow’s Comprehensive Spending Review. Thank you to every person who signed our petition (2/2). #EMM #EarlyMomentsMatter

It was great to join this #EarlyMomentsMatter petition hand in today, asking the government to invest in early childhood in tomorrow's spending review! (Though I do need to work on my 'serious campaigner demanding change' expression - I maybe just look bored?)

Today, the Lords will debate 2 key amendments to the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill. These would embed child rights into UK Government policymaking. UNICEF UK has worked with Children’s Rights Alliance for England & NSPCC to call for change: bit.ly/3VIROGF. 120+ organisations agree👇

We’re united with countless charities & experts including NSPCC Barnardo’s RCPCH calling on the UK Government to protect children by removing the ‘reasonable punishment’ defence. @UNICEF_UK signed an open letter to the PM, delivered today. See: bit.ly/4n5d70q
