To paraphrase the great Dr Billy Mallon: โ€œ If you became a flight doc/medic because you love the adulation, the thank yousโ€ฆ.. Boy did you fuck up. Your very finest work. That person you literally snatched from the jaws of death, your medical Mona Lisa is probably limping down

The latest nominee for US Surgeon General: Dr Casey Means Graduated med school in 2015. 1. She never completed a residency or formal post grad training program. 10 years out of med school, She has almost no experience as an actual clinical physician 2. She holds no formal Board

During an 11 month period from December 2007 to October 2008 - the US HEMS industry suffered an unprecedented 11 fatal medical helicopter crashes -killing 36 people. 3 of the dead were my good friends and colleagues Darren Bean, Mark Coyne and Steve Lipperer killed in the crash

Question for my neurosurg/spinal folk: Back in the 80s and 90s - I used to see frequent emergent placement of cervical tongs and traction for a variety of c-spine fractures. I believe it was actually taught in ATLS Over the last decade it seems much more of a rarity. Any reason
