. A. Kramp-Karrenbauer says that if EPP is strongest Party at the end of the night, Manfred Weber should become Commission president. In every scenario where Weber does not get the job, the CDU and AKK will need a pretty good story why this was not possible.

I disagree with FT assessment that Austria's Freedom Party was not hurt by #Ibizagate #StracheVideos - their exist poll result is 17.5%, down from 23% poll results for several months before the video. #EUelections2019

Now how fascinating and great for European democracy would it be if we had transnational lists and thus a direct competition between Europarties? #EP2019.

That's a disaster for EPP and Republicans in France. They are on track for 7 seats. Barely ahead of Socialists on 5. Greens: however, drum roll, should 10 #EUelections2019

What I am seeing from these really great Green results in Western Europe is less of a "Green Wave" and more of a polarisation .. it's like a Green Tsunami in west, and Green Desert in east (which is similar to my original point, though admittedly Greens outperforming polls).

EU28: We are continuously updating our projection for the European Parliament. The centre-right EPP is at least 10 seats ahead of the centre-left S&D - even if Fidesz leaves EPP and PSD remains part of S&D. #EP2019 #EUelections2019 Follow live here: europeelects.eu/ep2019/

Those who see the Greens as kingmakers and alternative to ALDE will be up for surprise ALDE is tied with the EPP for largest group in the Eur Council while no Green Party (yet) heads a government. Greens will be important for majorities in EP, but less so for the Com President

Today I allow myself an 'I told you so'-post: Contrary to media hype, as far back as Nov 2018 Felix Schenuit + I calmly analysed that: - EPP & S&D would lose their overall majority - BUT: Anti-EU forces wd not rise significantly and split in 2 groups: swp-berlin.org/en/publication…
