Great session with ladies minor group tonight who had their first Introduction to Cleans. All hitting "real" push ups + added weight) & front squat. Another key element of LTAD is to expose them to a variety of movements. Along with the physical benefits, helps their confidence

My advice.. if you dont have someone that has the skills to robustly collect, analyse, critically interpret & contextualise the results appropriately, then don't bother. Otherwise u end up with data that people try to fit narratives around & ultimately won't ⬆️ performance

Hamstring injurie in sprinting are mainly due from high velocity knee ext. In sprint swing phase. Then why is NC/slow hamstring movement deemed key in prevention? Would it not be better to train them in high velocity exercises in a closed environment? Should that be train first?

Endless whys. My 2 cents. GAA players work demanding jobs. Stress levels up. Improper conditioning of game demands, improper loading of int/vol. Little/No attention to landing/COD /decel mechanics. Poor holistic planning. Too high overload instead of slow burner. Mix of Surfaces

"For movements like running where muscles perform isometrically, holding isometrics may better replicate the demands of the stance phase as lower limb muscles function to resist further flexion of the hip, knee and ankle." Alex Natera, PhD sportsmith.co/articles/all-i…

Pelvic-Lumbo stability is a key coaching consideration for me. Everyone looks at the nordic/RDl/max speed/HSR exposure and its ofcourse important but stop over looking coaching postures for easy implemented exercises. Coach the person

S&C does not win/lose you games. Tech/Tact coaching does not win you games. Sports med keeping players healthy does not win you games. Nutritionist/Psych does not win you games. But its the collection of all the parts working as one. Understand this & you understand more.

Lee Weber, CSCS 1-Ive completely changed my thought on this. I've stated "overuse" many times during the club team explosion. I'd say it's not true! It's 100% underprepared!! They aren't playing too much. They aren't strengthening and conditioning enough (really not at all)!

Watching some of these report pieces on women’s World Cup. ACLs “There’s a lack of research in elite women’s sport” Honestly more research won’t help in a sport that pretends to be about physical prep but insane coaching staff will still run players into the ground.

Skill is not an objective measure. No skill is ever the same. Its the interaction of enviroment, task & individual. Skill, like decision making cant be seen as good or bad, but scenario specific. Not everything has to be objective and measured.

Would depend on what you mean by on field ? Taking collisions, lessing fatigue etc. But in terms of full out sprint speed. Probably not unless they have a very low training age. But if look at sport as a problem solving activity, is speed really the gamechanger ?

Does the exercise really matter ? Or is it more the volume/load/timing/prep etc actually more important when trying to reduce injuries ? This is especailly true with Nordics...

Eoin Moran (@eoinmoran16) 's Twitter Profile Photo

One of the most overlooked aspects in injury reduction - movement mechanics. Stop thinking nordics save the world and look at how hamstring injuries occur and work backwards to help reduce them. Thats why warm ups (done well) are so important.

Things that might contribute to the ACL injury epidemic in women’s football/soccer: Chasing “the youngest ever to play in this or that league/tournament” 🤷🏼‍♀️

The best indicator of youth development ? Keeping players playing. My view is, we should limit/abandon 1st teams in schools/youth clubs. Let kids play. Develop an intrinsic love of sport. Decrease burnout. And let the better players bring up the developing players.
