Meet the Steering Committee! Katrina Froese is an environmental educator! Katrina completed a Bachelor of Science in Ecology.  She joined Envirothon in 2021 as an orals judge, co-developing Orals Presentation questions from 2022-2024, and taking on Plant Ecology Chair in 2025.

Meet the Steering Committee! I'm Laura Alsip (she/her), Spare Chair. I support topic chairs and have been on the Soils and Land Use committee since 2016. I work as an Aquatic Sciences Biologist with DFO. I love backcountry camping, paddling, and knitting!

Meet the Steering Committee! Lindsey is a former Envirothoner. Her experience inspired her to complete a BSc in Agroecology and an MSc in Soil Science. She is now Recruitment Coordinator at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences. Lindsey is our Soil and Land Use Chair!

Meet Lee Hrenchuk, Senior Biologist at IISD Experimental Lakes! 🌊 She studies aquatic food webs and has led the Aquatics test team since 2015. When not researching, she sews, gardens, weaves, and creates Halloween costumes! 🎃 #Biologist #AquaticResearch #Sewing #Gardening

Meet Jen, Chair of the Envirothon Steering Committee (and also the Wildlife Chair)! She's been with Envirothon for 14 years and loves identifying wildlife tracks and signs on hikes and collecting wildlife skulls. Jen enjoys her job as Project Manager for the Redboine Watershed.

Meet Olwyn Friesen, a Research Scientist with Fisheries and Oceans! She has been a dedicated volunteer for 13 years and is now our Field Chair and developer of resource documents. Dr. O is passionate about science and education, and loves being outdoors and exploring new places!

Meet Justin, District Manager of Redboine Watershed District since 2010! With 20+ years in conservation, he loves protecting local watersheds. Justin is our Host Chair with the Manitoba Envirothon Steering Committee. A fan of travel and camping, he enjoys family time outdoors.

Meet Lynda Nicol, a new member of the envirothon steering committee! As executive director of MAW, she aims to ensure the program's sustainability. A busy mom of two, she loves beach days and nature walks! 🌊🚶‍♀️ #Envirothon #Sustainability

Heather is the (GIS) Tech for the East Interlake WD. She has a BSc in Geography & Biology from the UW, and Certification in GIS from Toronto Metropolitan University. She was an Envirothon participant, and is excited to again be involved with such an important organization.
