I've been putting off dealing with the kitchen since we moved in. Namely because everything functions (It's old and not what we necessarily want but it does the job) and most of what needs doing is cosmetic... like the ceiling being peacock blue... I'm painting it white tomorrow.

As much as this is a totally normal occurrence, we need to explain to kids the darker things about the 2000s. Grooming was rife in the music scene and it spilled into other areas too. The desire to be stick thin was insane too.

Missed a week at the gym due to training and pinching a nerve in my neck. Back on it today with lower weights and less reps, but it's not as healed as it could have been... ...because I forgot about it with the endorphins in my system at judo and got absolutely ragdolled. 🫠🫠🫠

Busy last weekend. Setting up for, timekeeping and competing at the first Judo Grand Prix of the season. Two medals and 30 points up. Won 3/4 fights, one with throw and two waza-ari into chokes. Next comp on the 25th!

Granite City was, as usual, an excellent day out. As much as it hurt only doing a 24 hour trip instead of a weekend of wandering the woods where I grew up, seeing familiar faces, throwing people about and getting a medal and some points for the trouble was worth it. 🥇🥋

I explained to a colleague why I identify as non-binary today. I didn't have to, but it felt good being able to put it into words and have someone tell me it made sense.

Forgot to post due to some mad life admin (got a puppy - he is chaos incarnate), but I accepted a bank role as a music lecturer! It may be more supply, but it's a step in a better direction for my mental health!

When I vote today I will remember Grenfell. I will remember Brianna. I will remember the vitriol toward refugees and the LGBTQ+. I will remember the comments of Sunak, Starmer, Forbes, Ross et al. And even if the outcome isn't great, my conscience will be clear.

Nothing better than annoying your neighbours by blasting noise desensitising videos for your puppy. Slowly increasing volumes on doorbells, knocking, storms, fireworks, barking and machinery til it's as close as we can get to the real thing.
