1. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority is an organisation we can all be proud of in Pakhtunkhwa; increasing collections by almost 60% vs. two years ago & 20% vs. last year. It is hard to increase tax collections while improving tax-payer perception. Crucially, KPRA has also done this successfully.

6. In February 2020, 47% of respondents had confidence that tax money was being spent on public welfare. That number has now risen to 60%.

7. Getting Pakistan to have the right tax collection culture will take time. There is still tons to do. But kudos to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority team that has improved KP's tax collection culture in leaps and bounds within two years, while massively improving collection.

8. What has been key to success? a. Consistency of leadership. Just two DGs of KPRA over the last three years. b. Ambitious goals. Just three years ago, KPRA's collection stood at Rs. 10 bln annually. That will surpass Rs. 25 bln this year; driven by ambitious target setting.

10. Keys to success: d. Data driven follow up: From being like most public sector organisations with little reliance on data, the KPRA team sits down with the Secretary Finance and with me, for a monthly stocktake, based on granular data, to review performance and unlock issues.

11. And finally, a great team. At a recent delivery lab with the KPRA team, amazed to see the motivation of the staff not just at the level of the DG & direct reports, but at the second and third tier of reporting levels. You guys can be proud of the work you do. Keep walking!
