Most historic eras directly die from war or economic catastrophe.  The Global Liberal Order of the past 85 years ( lend Lease Act 1941) was just murdered by whim. There was not even any public discussion, no senate hearings, no senate vote just personal whim.

Trump claimed recently that the only constraint on his power was his conscience. Today, proved that claim wrong. United Europeans, the market, other US politicians, independent media, and public opinion combined to stop Trumps crazy gambit to invade & annex Greenland.
