The US Secretary of Agriculture is in my Council district writing on a whiteboard about building local food systems and I am living my best day.

I'm back in my hometown of Pittsburgh today talking with producers, small business owners, and local officials about the work Dept. of Agriculture is doing to create more economic opportunities and greater prosperity in communities in Pennsylvania and nationwide.

I spent today at Harvie, an online grocery store in Pittsburgh that connects directly with producers to deliver their products to thousands of residents of Allegheny county. Businesses like Harvie are key to Dept. of Agriculture's goal of providing locally-grown foods closer to home.

.Dept. of Agriculture's clean energy and climate-smart agriculture programs are key parts of our work to create new economic opportunities for producers. I was happy to talk to folks who have benefitted from some of these programs today in Pittsburgh.

Harvie had the honor of hosting the us secretary of agriculture, Tom vilsack as well as the pa secretary of agriculture, Russell Redding — talking about building resilient and robust local food economy that connects rural and urban communities.
