Just heard someone on the radio comparing the early successes of Obama and Biden and saying how much better Biden is doing. No mention of white privilege. Surprise, Surprise.

Everyone is saying we are only safe when the whole world is vaccinated against COVID-19, but how can the political leaders who have failed to ensure significant sections of their own populations are vaccinated be relied upon to vaccinate the rest of the world?

On the packed trains today. Stratford to Clapham Junction, very few wore a mask. Moorgate to Hertford North, almost everyone wore a mask. Why would those who commute across London fear the virus less than those who commute out of London. Could this tell us about vaccine uptake?

I watched with incredulity in early 2020 as scientists implied that genes linked to race was the reason Black people were disproportionately dying from COVID. This racialized the virus/vaccine, scientists/doctors must understand that race is only a social construct. #COVIDReport

The study suggesting a variant in the LZTFL1 gene in south Asians makes them more susceptible to COVID-19 is interesting, but does not explain the vastly different impacts on Bangladeshis and Indians or why Black Africans who do not have the variant are just as susceptible.

If you are young and healthy, but not fully vaccinated, you may not be at significant personal risk from covid-19, but whenever you go out, particularly without a mask, you are inviting the virus to use you as a springboard to infect the vulnerable.

Read my op-ed on why headlines about new discoveries linking genes, race and susceptibility to COVID-19 are not always what they appear. medicalnewstoday.com/articles/why-a…

For my booster I was asked to decide between Pfizer and Moderna, as a scientist who understands vaccines, and toxicology I don't have the information to chose, how are members of the public expected to chose? they should have said, we have both so you can chose. A big difference.

Be careful out there, Omicron is so transmissible and dangerous because most do not realise they have been infected (asymptomatic) and continue their normal behaviour including spreading the virus. This is the logical evolution for a virus that will be with us for a long time.

Almost all the actions to address the shocking level of Black men being diagnosed with mental health illness are around diagnosis and treatment; commendable, but we also need to address the structural factors driving Black men to develop mental health issues in the first place.
