Many countries have overseas territories. Britain needs to stop apologising for its past and stand up for our overseas territories and citizens.  Britain deserves better.

Good luck to the Lords today in standing up for our creatives against the Government’s hamfisted approach to AI regulation. I hope we get the Bill back to the Commons and look forward to that debate (yet again and if the Government allow it to be debated)…bbc.com/news/articles/…

I welcome the increase in UK defence spending to meet the growing challenges we face, however investment must be more than numbers and deliver real improvements in defence capability. Today's announcement is only the first stage of this process.

Capitalism needs market signals to reward success and not tolerate failures in the delivery of public services. If Thames Water cannot both meet regulatory standards and invest in necessary improvements it has already failed.

It’s absolutely right to question Lord Hermer’s judgement based on his decisions in role. But, even the worst of us must have legal representation.

"We shall now be entering the fourth round of ping-pong. Few bills in our history have gone this many rounds.” Labour’s #Tech Minister admitted in Parliament today that the Government’s approach to #AI and #copyright is failing. When will they get the message and change course?

The UK is world leading for science and tech innovation, but we fail to capitalise on this when we do not back business and celebrate and reward success. The Government must build an environment for science and tech to not only grow but thrive, retaining our talent and industry.

On the 5th round of Data (Use and Access) Bill ping pong, I was inspired by Julia Donaldson’s words to try a new approach to explain why transparency matters in AI to protect our creatives. The Government must listen and take action now. Credit transparently given in speech 😉

Parents with children at independent school already pay twice, now we hear everyone will pay more as a result of the Government’s ideological, financially illiterate policy. We must work to reduce burdens on tax payers, and recognise the contribution where citizens do the same

It’s concerning that Downing Street doesn’t understand that as with all AI generated content sometimes it ‘hallucinates’ and produces garbage.

I think it may also be helpful to show my response to the intervention in the debate. The Terminally Ill Adults Bill turns a blind spot to those with suicidal thoughts and mental disorder. It should be withdrawn and the law in this area reviewed properly.

There are people who would benefit from the Terminally Ill Adults Bill. There are also people who would be put at risk given the way it implements physician assisted suicide. The question MPs must now answer is: ‘is the risk of harm to the vulnerable worth it?’ I say no.

Now the Terminally Ill Adults ’Assisted Dying’ Bill has passed its third reading, the challenge, or burden, now passes to the Lords to fix what we could not.
