Educators and students must be safe from violence at school, period. No one should fear for their life in a place of learning, in Newport News or anywhere else. Once again, I am calling on lawmakers to do more to end gun violence—and do it right now.

I am sickened by the news of a 6 year old shooting a teacher in an elementary school yesterday. Two questions: How in the hell does a 6 year old access a gun, and when does this madness stop? Praying for the teacher and her family.
