I have filled my postal vote for the candidate most likely to oust the Tory incumbent in my constituency. It's a clear choice that is way beyond any chance of changing soon here. If it's less clear cut where you are, keep an eye on the tactical voting sites to use the latest data

🧵 If the Tories come third, it changes everything. Coming second would allow them to rebuild as the official Opposition. But third place should finish them. It may take time, but they'd be walking dead. It would also put Brexit back on the agenda, at last. Here's why: 1/14

This is the problem with FPTP. People find themselves voting against what they despise rather than for what they like. We should be able to cast a vote for the party we most agree with and know that it carries the same weight as any other vote. We need voting reform.

Whilst it is really good to see the Tories take a massive and well deserved pasting, it is tinged with a little frustration at the number of seats they have held on to with a narrow majority that could have been easily wiped out with a little more tactical voting.

I just can’t get past Labour winning 65% of seats off 34% of the vote. Absolutely wild mismatch between the headline result and, well, everything else. Britain is now a multi-party system, and first-past-the-post can’t cope.

If there’s one plea I could make ahead of GCSE results day tomorrow, it’s in the way the media and other commentators talk about GCSE grades. Grades 1-3 are not fails. Us or Xs are. Anyone with a 1-3 HAS GOT A GCSE. And for some of those kiddos, a 1 or a 2 or 3 can be a

OK, I've finally caved. This hellsite is going down the pan, and it seems most of the cool kids are going over to bluesky, where you can now follow me for the same old crap at drmarcushill.bsky.social I'll probably still come here occasionally but pay far less attention.

As school begins in England, periodic reminder that schools which choose to reward 100% attendance without equally rewarding disabled children who cannot achieve this for disability related reasons may well be breaching the Equality Act and the Human Rights Act

What could be more pleasurable than an application of the pigeonhole principle (slightly generalized) that depends on the number of Tory MPs being very small?

Attendance Matters! But so do children… Perhaps you've seen a similar poster? Well, I propose a few changes; if we're going to award attendance I think we should at least be honest about what we're awarding. #attendancematters #edutwitter #childism #SEND
