Amazing automated phenotypic facility at INRAE Toulouse. Thank you to Sylvain Raffaele for hosting me for the day. I learnt a lot and look forward to exciting research in the future.
Our new paper does 3 things, we 1) clearly demonstrate high levels of #sclerotinia resistance in 2 new B. napus lines, 2) find polymorphic genes linked with resistance and 3) use #arabidopsis to show these genes are important for resistance. Well done Toby Newman!
What a joy to be involved in this great piece of work led by Toby Newman. #effectors in #sclerotinia may rely on NLR receptors for necrosis in Nicotiana.
Watch out for these tiny terrors! Our researchers have found 5 proteins in the fungus responsible for sclerotinia stem rot that work to kill plant cells. Read the paper in Molecular Plant Pathology at buff.ly/40o8u6j | Toby Newman Mark Derbyshire Lars Kamphuis
Makenzie Mabry talking about Brassica wild relatives at 16th International Rapeseed Conference 2023. Fantastic to learn about the evolutionary context into which our canola fits, and how this can help breed crops for the future.
I really enjoyed co-chairing the #sclerotinia session at 16th International Rapeseed Conference 2023 with Suzie Sprague CSIRO. A very enjoyable session overall, with some great talks. CCDM Curtin MLS
Excited to share our new article in Current Opinion in Plant Biology. In it, we discuss robustness-imparting properties of necrotroph virulence mechanisms. Thanks so much to Sylvain Raffaele for the opportunity to contribute to this piece. CCDM Curtin MLS doi.org/10.1016/j.pbi.…
Congratulations to our alumnus Roshan Regmi, PhD on this very nice piece of work from his PhD.
It's that time of year again. Marking out the field plot for our #canola #sclerotinia trial. Great to get away from the office for the morning. Yuphin khentry
Very happy to share our new article in Plant Biotechnology Journal. Balancing yield and disease resistance is a key plant breeding challenge. We provide perspectives on recent key discoveries, and what may be useful future research directions. CCDM Toby Newman onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
