Very happy to see the second paper of Agnès Lewden postdoc fellowship published in Journal of Experimental Biology! Agnès' gut feeling that molting penguins were over-heating was right, and these results have important implications for both wild and captive penguins in the context of climate change.
Brilliant night last night in the presence of giant beautiful insects WestFest Mesmerising Macro talk, finding out how to take magnificent bug pictures and how to use them to help Glasgow's wildlife with Weemadbeasties Dominic McCafferty GALLANT The Hunterian
Big thanks to BBC Springwatch for highlighting our field study along the River Kelvin corridor! Great to see our trail images and Léo Streith’s internship results on telly. Done with WP2 on Glasgow GALLANT Community Davide M Dominoni Dominic McCafferty bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod…
Good turn out of human and bug beings for our macrophotography and bug hunting day Scott Ferguson despite the weather. Excellent advice from Weemadbeasties on capturing our mini models at their very best. Some extra insect records for the Glasgow list & GALLANT project too!
It's great to see another article published from my postdoc with Michał S. Wojciechowski at UMK Torun, in collaboration with Zenon Czenze. We found that vespertilionid bats in Poland adjust evaporative cooling strategies between seasons, which may enhance water conservation during summer.

Our recent baboon 🐵 paper, and final chapter from my PhD now published in Animal Behaviour Animal Behavior Society 🥳. We examine individual variation in fine-scale movement metrics across natural and urban environments for baboons in Cape Town, South Africa. Great to see this one out!
Journal of Thermal Biology and Elsevier provided financial support for the International International Hibernation Symposium 2024 Symposium, hosted in Mont Tremblant, Quebec. These funds were put towards student presentation awards.🎉Congratulations to the awardees: 1/3
