After a chilly start, this afternoon will be much warmer. Full sunshine and a westerly then northwesterly breeze (10-20 mph at times) will push temperatures to around five to ten degrees above average for the start of Thanksgiving week.

A reinforcing shot of cold air will arrive from the north late today. Under a clear sky tonight, winds will be light and low temperatures will be similar to this morning - cold.

This morning was the coldest of the season to date. The lows, however, were not unusual for the time of year. Though ~ 10° below average for early Dec, they weren’t cold enough to set records. Lubbock’s 12/2 record low is 13°, set 110 years ago (1915 & tied on the date in 1985).
