🐝Yellow Jackets Read🐝 is almost here! Get ready to show off those reading skills and stack up the minutes! Our district-wide reading challenge kicks off October 1st and runs through October 31st!

🎃📚 Pumpkin Patch Fun at Lamar! 🍂 Students had a blast at the Lamar Pumpkin Patch, and a huge shout-out to librarian Audrey Speed for her fantastic idea that made it extra special! A heartfelt thank you to our amazing community of donors!

🐮🥕 Houston Early Childhood School has their very own Farmer’s Market thanks to librarian, Marian Evans! 🥦📚 Their little learners will have the best time at the Play Farmers Market in the library—where imagination meets education!

We kicked off Groovy Research this week in the SMS Library! Our ELAR classes teamed up with the library to kick off learning all about plagiarism, copyright, fair use, citations, and vetted online resources.

The SMS Library held its first ever Lunch and Learn! Students and even some staff enjoyed their lunches in the library while they heard from author Randall Munroe! It was enjoyed by all! We can’t wait to hear from author Jennifer Nielsen in December!

We are coming into the last week of our FOR THE LOVE OF READING Challenge! Let’s finish up strong Denison ISD! Scott Middle School, BMCDaniel, and Hyde Park are leading the way as of today!

Read Across Denison (RAD) is rolling out on Monday, March 2nd! Select SMS and DHS students as well as some DISD admin will be heading to Denison Elementary campuses to read with classes and share their love of stories. Plus other literacy events on each campus!

Read Across Denison was one for the books! 📚✨ Our Scott Scholars, SMS StuCo, SMS Peer Helpers, and DHS DenTeens hit the road to visit DISD elementary campuses and share stories, smiles, and a whole lot of page-turning fun.

BMcDaniel students and staff had an absolute blast celebrating Read Across Denison with some seriously fun dress-up days! From creative costumes to big smiles in the hallways, the campus was full of school spirit and a love for reading.

A group of our SMS Book Club members spent their Saturday at the North Texas Teen Book Festival in Irving—and it was a book lover’s dream! Students listened to amazing author panels, met some of their favorite writers, and of course…added a few new books to their collections!
