Lisa Sikkema kicked ass… not only in her minute on stage at #HCA2022GM, but for the past 2 1/2 years building the human lung cell atlas.

What a meeting #HCA2022GM! Here’s to new friends, new ideas, and huge progress towards the Human Cell Atlas.

Scientific bucket list moment, presenting our work Elo Madissoon Teichlab and representing discovAIR 🫁 at #HCAGM2022. Thank you to Martijn Nawijn and Human Cell Atlas for the opportunity! Looking forward to the next steps of the #HLCA including more #spatialtranscriptomics

The integration exemplar from the #lung 🫁 from Fabian Theis Malte Luecken Lisa Sikkema Martijn Nawijn discovAIR referenced constantly throughout the meeting and an inspiration for other bionetworks. Check out the twitter thread and biorxiv link: x.com/SikkemaLisa/st… 4/7

I could not agree more: Lisa Sikkema deserves full credits for building the #HumanLungCellAtlas! Such a joy to work with such talented PhD students, and be able to contribute to Human Cell Atlas discovAIR

Malte Luecken presenting the #HLCA Human Lung Cell Atlas at the #ERS2022 meeting in Barcelona. Tomorrow the Hot Topic Symposium for discovAIR! Human Cell Atlas ERS Assembly 3 CZI Science

The discovAIR paper describing the contribution of this project to the roadmap towards the Human Lung Cell Atlas is now out in ERJ - open access so grab your copy! Human Cell Atlas CZI Science GRIAC_Groningen Research UMCG erj.ersjournals.com/content/60/2/2…

The main discovAIR output finally in print today!!! Such an accomplishment by the Lung Bionetwork of the Human Cell Atlas and a superb resource for the respiratory community Lisa Sikkema Malte Luecken Alexander Misharin Fabian Theis Martijn Nawijn ERS Assembly 3 ATS_RCMB Longfonds CZI Science

Researchers (Martijn Nawijn) have successfully mapped the diseased and healthy human lung for the first time. Using machine learning, they combined all available studies on the composition of the lung into a single dataset. This offers great opportunities 👉ow.ly/YVnA50OJ9VR

This was a true team effort! Such a pleasure to work with super-talented students like Lisa Sikkema and scientists like Malte Luecken Alexander Misharin & Fabian Theis! Support from discovAIR CZI Science and Longfonds and mostly my lab - they’re the best! Martin Banchero Aurore Gay

Finding common, pathological cell states across different lung diseases was such a revelation: can we treat common cellular mechanisms similarly in different lung diseases? So much work to do!!! ERS ATS_RCMB Longfonds Research UMCG GRIAC_Groningen EXPIRE_lab

Alexander Misharin Pascal Barbry discovAIR Lungmap Human BioMolecular Atlas Program (HuBMAP) Human Cell Atlas EXPIRE_lab Also the funders Longfonds CZI Science European Commission and all tissue donors were crucial for this project, and I sm thankful for their support and contributions. This is an ongoing project within Human Cell Atlas - reach out if you want to join us!

Zoom in for any details, but Amanda Oliver won the best abstract prize in ERS Assembly 3 at the ERS meeting in Milan! Well deserved for this exciting data! Wellcome Sanger Institute Human Cell Atlas discovAIR Congratulations!!!

Tatiana Karp giving a great talk at the ERS meeting in Milan presenting her latest results. One of our highly talented PhD students in GRIAC_Groningen Research UMCG Come visit us for Bronchitis XI next year to get the gull GRIAC experience!

Next up: the highly talented PhD candidate Pauline Kuks, sharing her exciting results on new clusters of patients with asthma identified in Atlantis. With her proven presentation skills she also captivates the audience! GRIAC_Groningen Research UMCG ERS
