Dear government orgs: Don't be stingy with giving genealogists access to records that are or should be legally open to the public. RTR may sue you. Save yourself the trouble and make your records available.

The cave paintings of Addaura, Sicily are at least 13,000 years old, but I can't get over the detail. So beautiful!

And sometimes you finish recording the webinar you've been prepping for weeks, and you feel really good about it! But then you open the file and realize you had started your PowerPoint but never shared your screen on Zoom. So... it's just a video of you talking and no slides. :-|

Here we go! #1950census - 1950census.archives.gov

9 minutes in, and just found my first relatives in the #1950census. Workflow that is easiest for me right now is to use the Ancestry district finder (which lets us search by address), and then browsing through the images by town (and then ED) on 1950census.archives.gov

I just looked up my #NYC apartment building in the #1950census and, to my delight, residents are enumerated including their *unit number* - a rarity in earlier censuses. I found the couple living in my apartment in 1950, and clearly I'll now be up all night researching them.
