I think I have a genuinely unpopular take, which is that it's bad to be invested in new translations of major texts, authorial marginalia etc, and that the humanities should stop incentivising commentary and exegesis. No one should be famous for being an interpreter of Marx.

Absolutely thrilled to congratulate authors Kate Reed, Julie Ellis and Elspeth Whitby on winning the #MedSoc24 SHI Foundation book prize with their Manchester University Press book 'Understanding Baby Loss'. Friends, gently, we need to stop promoting university funding by talking about 'competitiveness' or 'maintain[ing] wealth.' Our students deserve a decent education, where staff have the time to give them and their work the attention it deserves. That's enough!
