Second grade Mountain View Elem had fun grouping with a place value activity today. It's so fun to watch an "aha moment" happen. JohnsonCitySchools #SecondGrade

Second grade Mountain View Elem learned the first steps of regrouping today by doing it hands on with base ten blocks. We had so much fun! JohnsonCitySchools #JCSTechLeads #Mathematics

My second graders made cards for other students in neighboring districts who are impacted by the hurricane. They were really sweet. This week has definitely been one for gratitude talks & service talks. Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools #AppalachiaStrong

What a feeling for my 2nd grade writers to be successful at organizing their ideas into a final draft!! This one struggled at the beginning of the year to write words & now look! We use our school-wide graphic organizer which is used from K-5! Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools

Had fun with open number lines today! Really helped them SEE the value of each jump on the line by using base ten blocks. Love a good "Ah-ha moment"! Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools #GoMustangs #HandsOnMath

One of my favorite days - reading Owl Babies by Martin Waddell & making our own snow owl baby ornaments to hang on the large community tree in our foyer at school. They enjoyed making their very own from pinecones! Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools

Here at Mountain View, we do a big Christmas tree with a class made ornament made by EACH child. It's truly my favorite piece of the holidays to watch the students find their ornaments & look at everyone's masterpieces ๐ Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools

What a great World Read Aloud day at Mountain View Elem in JohnsonCitySchools ! 2nd graders enjoyed reading from author David Shannon & his book , "No, David" and listening to his childhood stories. Then they got a lesson on how to draw the character! Such fun!

What a great performance by our Second grade Mountain View Elem ! They sang their heart out about Space ๐ JohnsonCitySchools #GoMustangs

Every student Mountain View Elem received their OWN UNO game today! We were so thankful to have that given to our students from a generous donor. They came back and played this afternoon and had a blast! THANK YOU! ๐ค๐ JohnsonCitySchools

Second graders wrote opinion pieces on why they love the spring. It was so fun watching them put this together this week. I have a whole class full of writers! Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools #GoMustangs

Second graders worked hard on their Spring opinion writing today. They did watercolor, layering, and then a masterpiece of writing. Super proud of them all. Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools #GoMustangs

Did I fool them? YES! They absolutely fell for the flood drill today in 2nd grade - all four steps including sitting on their desks & paddling to safety w their Chromebook! #AprilFoolDay Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools

By this time of the year we get really creative about how we take time to relax & read. Flashlight reading is always a hit when we need our reading time. #WeLoveReadingTime Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools #MustangsRead

Thank you to Chick-fil-A JC for supporting us in our READING CHALLENGE! Our students got to have a VERY good sandwich thanks to Chick-fil-A & their hard work reading! #MustangsRead #chickfila Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools

One of my very favorite times of the school year is our annual art showcase of our students. Everything they learn about art is amazing from our AMAZING Art Teacher Mountain View Elem !!! Enjoy a quick peek!! JohnsonCitySchools

Teamwork challenge in 2nd grade! We learned SO much about each other through this experience. We read a book called "Up the Creek" & then challenged ourselves to see if we could communicate better. It was GREAT! Mountain View Elem JohnsonCitySchools #teamwork #GoMustangs
