"IF a team enlarges what it can do, it also enlarges what it can see" Still Not Safe. What a OMG read. Thanks D.Vaughn for recommending. The medicalisation of pt safety has stunted its growth & progress.I firmly believe this can be corrected as long as we have non medicos involved

As if we need any further evidence to show the value of front-line workers.... here is our study that demonstrates (with a novel approach) the value of engaging front line workers in QI in reducing adverse events. bmjopenquality.bmj.com/cgi/content/fu…

Great podcast. Preparing for Covid. The importance of human factors. Simulation training. Levels of bureaucracy stripped away so front-line workers can do their work.

Working as a front-line for 35 years I would be a millionaire if I got a $1 for every time I heard."If only they (management) asked us".This is why I work with the MEERQAT team because one day(hopefully in my lifetime) they will realise a survey is not a conversation.

Team MEERQAT -a team of dedicated (mostly non-clinical) professionals knocking on health services' doors trying to get decisions makers to take a systems approach to QI. Tricky! meerqat.com.au/meerqat-a-jour…

Highly recommend a book by Kathleen Sutcliffe and Robert Wears-Still Not Safe-Health care management has compliance focus and not a "what is really going on at the front-line focus". It can be done - management need to provide tools and time.

Why healthcare leadership should embrace quality improvement bmj.com/content/368/bm… "Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change." A different mindset is required if we want to genuinely embed QI in healthcare

Thank you *so* much, everyone who posted a kind reply to this. Yesterday’s figures were so devastating - but sometimes Twitter has a way of reminding me of all the good there is, and how much we have to hope for xx 💙

My occasional colleague& ever intrepid-quality- improvement-via-frontline-staff engagement crusader, Dr Donna Cohen, shares that QI can be simple & sustainable. ( full disclosure I am connected to Donna's organisation through family) linkedin.com/posts/cohendon…
