A couple bag skates or endless stairs aren’t going to get you in game shape. Your practice demands should be harder than the game. Vary rest times Multiple games at once Double shifts No change Just because you play games in practice doesn’t make it easy.

“When do you teach things?” Thing happens, ask questions, what are your options for this problem? demonstrate solutions(technical, tactical) More simple, more fun, more learning.

When something happens you want to correct, learning sticks if you can guide them to the answer. “What are some other options” “Is there space we can use” “Who’s the most dangerous guy” “How can we create a great chance” “How can you best support your teammate here”

I believe it was Bobby Stroupe that said “Your skill has a ceiling that is dedicated by your athletic ability” I’ve see it happen first hand in pe classes and coaching for the last 15 years.

This video a masterclass on drawing defenders in. For players on the ice, can you draw them(or their eyes) to focus on you?(with or without the puck) Always be creating advantages for you and your teammates.

Stackers and crashers is a fun, easy scoreboard game where even if you have a big lead, it’s never safe! When sent to the scoreboard, players left in the game are faced with ever changing game situations. 2v1, 1v1, 3v2, etc.

If you want volunteer coaches to come back, respect, support, provide resources, incentives, and give them a reason to give 100% for your club. If you want to develop players, develop and support coaches. They are your front line.

Want fewer parent issues? -include -engage -listen(you don’t have to agree) -be open and honest -communicate often -make sure they know you are doing what’s best for all kids. -most just want to be heard. Being proactive will go a long way and make your life easier.
