A1) I’ve learned to prioritize tasks by impact and urgency. My focus is on high-impact goals that align with long-term objectives. I will delegate where possible, and tackle urgent, time-sensitive items first. I have to protect time for what matters most! #VAESPCHAT

A2) I “delegate to elevate” which is where I will trust administrative tasks to trusted staff, like scheduling or paperwork. One practice that I have learned is to let my professionals lead in their areas of expertise. This frees up SOME time to go in classrooms. #VAESPCHAT

A3) “Scary” time-wasters of mine: unnecessary meetings, constant email checking, and handling tasks others can do. I have an Eisenhower Matrix that helps me set boundaries, schedule focused work time, and trust others to help me stay on track with clear priorities! #VAESPCHAT

A5) Balancing school needs with self-care means setting boundaries, delegating when possible, and scheduling time for myself. My mornings consist of a 60 minute workout. I have taken time this year for family and it has helped me make better decisions. We all win! #VAESPCHAT

A1) One piece of advice for first-year teachers: build strong relationships with your students. Creating a safe, supportive classroom environment trust, engagement, and a love of learning. Students may not always remember the lessons, but they remember how they felt. #VAESPCHAT

A2) Days are getting shorter, so self-care becomes even more essential. I make time each day to reflect, recharge, and connect with loved ones. Staying present, keeping a journal, and working out help keep my energy. Take care of yourself so you can give your best! #VAESPCHAT

A3) Feedback is a gift as we are all lifelong learners. Constructive feedback helps us grow in ways we might not see ourselves. I tell new teachers to take feedback with an open mind, reflect on it, and set small, actionable goals. Growth happens one step at a time! #VAESPCHAT

A4) It’s been a while, but one would be Teach Like a Champion by Doug Lemov. This book is packed with practical strategies for effective teaching and student engagement. It’s a great resource for building confidence and honing your craft in the classroom! #VAESPCHAT

A5) This week, I’ll dedicate time to observing in new teachers’ classrooms and offering tailored feedback. I’ll also make time to answer questions and share experiences. Building support networks and open communication is key to helping them find success! #VAESPCHAT

A1) My top priorities include: 1.Increased Funding for Schools 2.Support for Mental Health Services 3.Teacher Recruitment & Retention 4.STEM Education & Innovation We need policies that help empower our schools to give every child the best start! #VAESPCHAT

A2) The VLA taught us the power of collaboration, resources, and early intervention. For a Numeracy Bill, I feel it needs these items: 1.Strong foundational support 2.Resources for teachers 3.Family engagement 4.Ongoing assessment to track progress. #VAESPCHAT

A3) To tackle teacher shortages, there needs to be: 1.Competitive salaries to attract talent. 2.Loan forgiveness for educators. 3.Funding for mentorship programs to support new teachers. VA needs to make teaching a sustainable, rewarding career! #VAESPCHAT
